Light Oolong Tea : Description & Brewing Guide

Tea brewing

Light Oolong tea is known for its elegant and refreshing character. Its aroma reveals soft floral notes, while the taste is smooth, delicate, and almost free of bitterness or astringency. This makes it an excellent choice for easy, enjoyable tea drinking, especially on warm days. Our farmers harvest this tea in the middle of the season — late June to early July, when the leaves reach their peak maturity and absorb the richness of the summer sun. As a result, the tea develops a naturally refreshing and uplifting profile.

Heat the water to 95°C. If it is not possible to measure the temperature, then you can boil water and let it cool for 5 minutes.

2

Take out the tea. This tea requires 1g per 100ml of water.

3

Warm up the brewing container. Pour hot water into the kettle (gaiwan, flask) that you will use so that the tea does not experience temperature fluctuations during brewing, and this does not affect the taste of the infusion.

4

Place the tea in a heated bowl. If it's oolong, black tea, or any other aged tea, pour hot water over it once or twice, draining the infusion after 3-5 seconds. This will help to "awaken" the tea and prepare it for brewing.

5

Fill the tea with water. Take into account the selected dishes, because the tea continues to be brewed while the infusion is drained: it takes longer from the kettle than from the kettle or flask. When draining, use a strainer if necessary.

6

Repeat step 5 until the tea retains its taste and aroma, and as many times as you want. It is believed that by the next spill it is worth adding 5-10 seconds to the brewing time, and when the leaves are almost "exhausted", you can increase the time to 2 minutes. Focus on your feelings and add time if the taste has weakened.

What’s the difference between brewing methods?

It depends on your time and the experience you want: Classic brewing - one rich, full cup, ideal for everyday use Gongfu brewing - multiple infusions with evolving flavor, perfect for tea rituals and relaxation Siphon brewing - delivers a clean, well-extracted, and refined taste

Why 1 g per 100 ml? Isn’t that too little?

This is the optimal ratio for a balanced and smooth flavor without bitterness. If you prefer a stronger brew, you can slightly increase the amount.
